Real Lives – David

Hello, my name is David & I have been regularly going to Cambray Baptist Church since around 2000.

Had no idea I would be here for so long but it seems the right fit for my family and I.

A couple of times a month I volunteer on the AV desk which means I get there an hour or so earlier to set up with the musicians, have the appropriate microphones ready for anyone speaking or singing and work with the visual guys to ensure all the AV stuff runs smoothly, including the live YouTube feed.

But, enough of all that!

I choose to go to church because I believe that Jesus is my Saviour and it’s good to hang out with like-minded people. I hate rules a d regulations, and actually don’t have much time for religion either. My understanding is that Jesus didn’t care much for rules and regulations and shook things up a bit with the religious leaders back in the day.

The other thing is, I needed forgiveness (we’ve all done some bad stuff, right?) and figured the only place to find true forgiveness was through Jesus.

Despite what my preconceptions were about church and being a Christian, I found true freedom in Jesus. His teachings are about freedom and not necessarily complying to the order of things in our society.

There’s more good news…

‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has conceived’ – the things God has prepared for those that love Him. Those words are from a book in the bible called Corinthians (1 Corinthians 2:9)

I believe that Christianity offers a great message of hope for the future.

If you want to think more about what Christmas should mean, and how to trust in Jesus, we have two resources that might help.  The first is a ‘help yourself’ resource called The Four Points.  On this website you can listen to four short videos which tell you more about how to come to know Jesus as your saviour.  The second is a course you can join – Hope Explored.
